Tirolo is located on the Küchelberg hill above Merano at 600 m of altitude and nearby of the Nature Park Texel-Group - the biggest of all South Tyrolean Nature parks. For this Tirolo is the perfect location for hiking tours and mountain excursions. The cable car Hochmuth takes you in a few minutes to 1400m of altitude; here is the starting point of the trekking route over Merano and you have a wonderful view over Merano and the whole valley of the Etsch.

For those who are interested in art and culture the vist of Castle Tyrol is a must. It was the ancestral seat of the Counts of Tyrol and today hosts the South Tyrolean Museum of Culture and Provincial History. Visitors can learn all about medieval culture and history as well as recent events in the region.

Close to Castle Tyrol the Bird Care Centre Castle Tyrol treats injured, shot or poisoned birds to release them into wild nature. The daily flight shows are an impressing experience for the whole family.
